Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
