Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
