Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
