Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
