Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
