Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
