Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
