Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
