Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
